These 1/4″ steel frame fish plates are designed specifically for 1967-1972 Ford F-100 and F-250 long bed to short bed conversions. Each plate is laser-cut to match the factory frame profile and is intended to reinforce the frame after shortening.
The fish plates are designed to fit the front side of the factory frame embossment, just ahead of the rear leaf spring hanger. When positioned correctly, the weld seam falls directly in the center of the fish plate, allowing maximum weld coverage across the frame joint for added strength.
For proper placement, begin the 16″ section to be removed 5-1/4″ from the bottom edge of the front bed mounting hole in the frame. (See installation photo.)
When installed in this location, the frame splice will align with the center of the fish plate, allowing you to place multiple welds across the cut seam for a stronger repair.
Note: These fish plates are intended for experienced fabricators. Proper measuring, cutting, welding, and frame alignment are critical to a successful installation.
